’67 Cougar fastback

Ever since I laid eyes on the first Cougar in 1967, I wondered why Mercury didn’t offer another body style, besides the notch back. They didn’t even offer a convertable til 1969. But I’m a fastback man all the way, to me nothing is sleeker than the fastbacks.

So I had to see what one would look like. I did a ‘69 Cougar Elminator II with a ‘69 Mustang Sport Roof in 1998, that’s posted on my brother’s Hub garage “Fastlaner Garage”

But I hand rendered that and it took hours so with Photoshop at hand I whipped this out in a short time.
Let me know what you think. I have another variation on this one in mind that I may do at a later date but for this week’s Restyle I give you the XR-70, the alternate body style Cougar they should’ve built.

It’s very good. It could be interesting to imagine other “what if?” like what if Ford had continued the fastback Sportroof of the Torino for the model years 1974-76?

I also saw your rendering of a 2-door ’69 Nomad based on the El Camino, this is a Nomad then Chevrolet should had done. :-)

Thanks Stephene, The two door wagon was an idea that should’ve stayed in production.

I really like the fastback Cougar. I would like to build this. Tell me about the roof.
I guess it is Torino and Mustang combo.
    Thank you for your time.
